Stone Barn Wedding
Another venue on the very top of my list if you’re looking to get married in the Cotswolds is Cripps Stone Barn. Its run by the family business Cripps and co, who have great portfolio of wedding venues under their belt.
The Stone Barn is one of my favourite for many reasons, it ticks lots of boxes for me with my wedding photography.
Location, location, location
Cripps Stone Barn lies between Burford and North leach on the Gloucestershire – Oxfordshire boarder. The Barn in nestled in the Cotswolds countryside, accessible by a long drive. On approaching the barn it could be mistaken for any ordinary agricultural building. On first site the imposing façade both industrial and rustic hide the beautiful space within. As soon as you step through the doors onto the flag stone floors and take in what can only be describes as a juxtaposition of rustic industrial glamor, you are bound to be won over. The corrugated iron vaulted ceilings are adorned with fairy lights and large fires roar in the open kitchens. The space is so warm its cool! The Dutch barn in on a split level and the wedding breakfast area has wall to wall glass doors flooding the space with light. in the summer these can be opened allowing a cool country breeze in. The sights and sounds of the stunning Gloucestershire landscape are there to enjoy.
No pomp, only your ceremony
Carry on wandering along the barn and you’re greeted by a set of old barn doors, this is the threshold to the stone barn. The Stone barn is a beautiful space, with golden Cotswold stone walls and a super high vaulted beamed celling this is the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony. I love it when my couples say their vows in front of the glass doors, after all photography is all about light but some couples especially in the winter choose to get married before the imposing fireplace. In the middle of the room you have the option to have a huge fresh flowered wreath, it really softens the barn and is a remarkable and talked about feature.
The rolling Cotswold hills
The outside space at Stone Barn is is as lovely as the inside space, it really is a venue for all seasons. the gardens are perfect for lawn games in the summer and even an outside ceremony should you wish to say your vows in the open air.
There a terrace with seating for relaxing with drinks on a hot day or taking a seat by the fire pits that are lit at the evening reception. All this looks out on the farm land, vast fields and hills. In Autumn the trees at the front of the barn set the landscape on fire with their orange and yellow leaves. There are many picturesque spots to enjoy your wedding photography, from long grasses in the meadow, wild flower patches or vast fields at sunset. Even photos next the the iron walls are a firm favourite.
Feasting
You cant talk about any of the Cripps and co venues without mentioning the food. Stone Barn is no acceptation. Its not a wedding breakfast its a banquet! The food is simple, local and absolutely delicious. Plates are always empty, and portions always generous. Food and drink are I think an important factor of a wedding day, its one of the most social things we do and around the world feasting at a wedding is a common theme. I’ve eaten my fair share of wedding meals and Cripps and Stone Barn are at the very top of the list for me.
Barn Dance
As the light fades and the firepits roar into light its time to get the part started. Stone is exactly the right place to let you hair hair down and bust out those crazy dance floor moves. The old Barn can be lit and flooded with colour add in the tunes and you’ve got yourself a rural nightclub, no one to disturb and you can simply party the night away.
